All of our soapstone cookware is seasoned and ready to use.
Soapstone is a natural rock which is mined from the foothills of the Eastern Ghats in parts of Tamil Nadu. These rocks are then broken into smaller stones and cook pots are carved out of them by hand.
Soapstones have been used as cookware for at least the past 300 years. We have evidence of stone pots passed down through generations.
We season the pots with turmeric powder, sesame oil, castor oil and rice water in different processes for 3 weeks.
Cook pots are best suited to make tamarind based gravies such as Rasams, Sambars etc
Clean using regular dish wash soaps or liquids.
