Eeya Chombu
If you’ve ever had Rasam made in an Eeya Chombu, you no nothing else ever comes close to it. In the South-Indian household, mastering the humble Rasam is quite a herculean task. Our grandmothers aced this task with the tin aka Eeya Chombu in which the lip-smacking Rasam came together by a slow infusion of flavours and aroma.
When golden yellow froth collects at the top of the Eeya Chombu, you switch off the Rasam, garnish it with coriander and ghee thalippu before you cover it and let it soak flavours in the Eeya Chombu before serving.
Each of our Eeya Chombu is handcrafted by rural artisans and it takes them over 8-10 hours to craft just one Chombu. The chombu is made with pure Velleeyam aka Tin and the food you cook in it is naturally enriched with minerals that the metal released and it also enhances the flavour of your meals.
